FG42 Ausf. E

I chose the FG42 to primarily improve my wood and metal texturing, as I wanted to explore these materials and push my knowledge. I really love the look and shape language of 20th-century weapon design and wanted to study modeling and texturing in this style.

I follow a sub-div workflow in Maya to establish all my base shapes, and later use Zbrush for booleans. Lowpoly and UV's are done in Maya . I do baking in Marmoset Toolbag 4, as I get more controll over scewing and general cage difficulties. I do all my texturing in Substance 3D Painter, where I build all my materials from the ground up.

The rifle is optimized fore real-time rendering, and intended for a first person experience. The FG42 model includes the magazine, bullet and rifle.
